From Noodler's Ink:
Henry Gage, the son of Thomas Gage, Royal Military Governor of Massachusetts, played a role in acquiring approximately 19,000 bottles of wine during his time, including the favored selections among the aristocratic elite: red port, dark sherry, and Madeira. These wines were not shared with the commoners enduring heavy imperial taxation but were instead used as tools to gain influence and forge connections among the aristocrats. To capture the essence of this colonial aristocracy, Noodler's Ink presents "American Aristocracy" ink, meticulously bottled one by one, resulting in intentionally unique bottles. This approach mirrors the conservative colonial aesthetic, embodying the three most aristocratic colors: red port, dark sherry, and Madeira.
The ink embodies a range of plum burgundy hues, reminiscent of vintage royal purple ink, steeped in tradition due to its connection to the colonial era. Its lines on paper create a striking contrast, evoking the memories of an ancient regime, which may give pause to those on the cusp of embracing a new one with uncannily similar motives and behaviors.
"American Aristocracy" is launched on both sides of the Atlantic, accompanied by an apology to His Majesty, King George III of Great Britain, printed on every label. This gesture symbolizes the hope that no form of aristocracy will ever establish a permanent presence in both New England and Olde England again. Please note that this ink is not bulletproof. To pay homage to English aristocratic wines, a cork from Portugal is used to swatch the ink, honoring its heritage.
